A Different View of Pet Health Insurance

I-am-working-here We recommend pet health insurance - we being myself and Tom, my hubby. The best reason to have it is not because it will "save you money", although it will, especially in a pinch. But, the better reason is to give you peace of mind.

Over on the BlogPaws site, Tom wrote an extensive article about pet health insurance, and I thought it was worth quoting from. I do recommend you visit the blog and read it yourself - it's not just his opinion, there are a lot of smart people who feel exactly the same as we do, about this important topic.

Here's the main point of his post: "Health insurance is NOT an investment! It's protection against financial disaster. That includes pet health insurance."

Some smart folks are saying it's better for pet people to invest the money they would be spending on pet health insurance, rather than buy pet health insurance. Umm... I'm not against investments, but I think of my life with my pets and I know that had pet health insurance been available for my previous pets, my pocketbook would have been a lot fatter, over all. My bank account - not so much. That $20-50 (or whatever the cost is) I would have used to purchase insurance for my pets would never have made it into my bank account - I would have always had an excuse.Am-I-boring-My-Dog-Edie-Jarolim

And that's what Tom (and Edie Jarolim - a speaker for the BlogPaws 2010 conference, which PurinaCare is helping to sponsor) said in the post on BlogPaws. For many of us, the monthly cost is more manageable than depending on an investment or savings account, should we need cash to care for our pets. If you've listened to Dr. Larry and Dr. Bill, you'll know that many pet health insurance policies also cover more than just major surgery or emergency issues. (check out Edie's book - Am I Boring My Dog?)

I would not want to be without insurance for myself and I would be appalled if my daughter did not carry insurance on my granddaughter. Well, pets are living, breathing creatures who suffer from illness and accidents, not that differently than the ones we humans encounter during our time on Mother Earth. It just makes sense to consider purchasing pet health insurance - to be fully protected and secure.

Of course, all this is our opinion. We side with the folks who understand the security of having their pets protected. What do you think? Click the image here and get a free quote - can't hurt, right?
