When I tell people what I do for a living they have a hard time understanding it right off the bat.
"Wait a minute, you work for a Pet Health Insurance Company? You mean for dogs and cats"?
"Ah, er, yes that's exactly what I do," is my usual reply.
I get a litany of responses after that.
"How much is it"?
"Should I buy if for my fourteen year old dog with congestive heart failure"?
Or my personal favorite. "I sure wish I'd known about that before my dog........"
Well, I'm sure the dog wishes his pet parents had known about it, too.
The dog, or cat for that matter, would love it because owning a PurinaCare Pet Health Insurance Policy is the best way to make sure you have access to the best health care possible.
That's what it is really all about (as Yvonne and I have been telling you, in this series of posts on why pet health insurance is a good option). It's not about saving money or even about breaking even. Who in their right mind wants to break even on their own medical insurance policy or home owners policy? Ouch! It's just not about high vet bills. It's about knowing that you can do whatever you need to do in the event of an emergency or a serious life threatening disease.
Today's veterinarians have access to the latest in medical and surgical technology. They can perform almost any procedure that your own MD can perform and veterinary specialists routinely do.
Let's say your cat needs chemotherapy or your dog needs a hip replacement. Your veterinarian can send you to a board certified veterinary oncologist or a board certified surgeon for these types of procedures in virtually any major city in the US. Any of the veterinary teaching hospitals around the country can perform these procedures, as well.
If you have a PurinaCare policy and your'e covered, you can put your mind at ease. If not, you can borrow against your 401 K and come up with the cash. Oh yeah, wait a minute, probably not a good idea right at this moment in history.
Seriously, it really is about peace of mind and providing the best care for the life of your pet. And these days, with pets living longer than ever it's a small price to pay.
