Those Precious Moments

Sometimes you don't need to say anything at all. Sometimes all it takes is a moment to realize how lucky you are to have the things you do. Especially the things that give you happiness when you need it most, comfort when you can't find it anywhere else, laughter when you have forgotten the sound and love when ever you need it.

Love your pet today.

Unconditional Love

Valentine's Day is dedicated to showing your appreciation for the ones you love - two and four-legged.

You would be hard pressed to find someone more attentive and understanding than a furry loved one. No matter what is going on, they have always been there.

That terrible break up you thought you would never get over? The job that you thought you had locked in that passed you by? When your best friend moved away? Remember who has been there through thick and thin.

This Valentine’s Day, don’t forget to show your love to the ones who have always and will alway love you – for better or for worse, in good times and bad – you know those sweet eyes and that wet nose will get you through it all.

Happy Valentine’s Day from Maizie, Marleigh and me.

'Settle' isn't in Marleigh's Vocabulary

I was going to chalk up Marleigh’s antics during her first day of class to pure excitement. Thus I had high hopes going into day two. I should have known better.

Things started off much the same. Attempting loose-leash walking means having to stop every time Marleigh pulled me. When you put five dogs in front of her, she will practically hang herself to get to them. Like a bad teacher, I ignored the first lesson because if I didn’t I never would have made it to class.

Marleigh's First Day of School

Sorry for not updating last week, I was sick again. Although Marleigh and Maizie tried to help, their puppy eyes and precious squished faces were no match for this virus.

But, before I came down with my ailment, I went with Marleigh to her first day of school. I took Maizie with me as inspiration for her little sister - so much for that idea.

The Taming of Marleigh

I have finally decided that it is time. Marleigh is going to school.

The days of arm socket dislodging, pillow destroying, food spreading and midnight bark-a-thons will soon be over. Six weeks from Wednesday, I will be the proud parent of a masterfully trained dog who is astonishingly obedient.

Am I excited? Of course. Am I nervous? Absolutely.

Maizie was a dream student. She was attentive, wanted to learn, gave me undivided attention and was the superstar of the class. I have absolutely no idea what to expect from Marleigh. Not a clue.

All I know is I am going to prepare for anything...and everything.

Sleeping Beauties

I have heard the term “attached at the hip” quite a bit from my friends and family when talking about me, Marleigh and Maizie. What’s funny is they don’t even know the half of it.

When I am at home, Maizie and Marleigh do not let me out of their sight. It is always heartwarming to see their little faces when I walk in the front door, but, sometimes they can be a little too clingy.

Yappy New Year

Here’s to a year full of wiggly butts and wet noses; belly rubs and long walks; barking at nothing and laps around the living room. Whatever this new year is going to bring you and your four-legged companion, I hope it is fully of memorable moments and unforgettable tails.

Have a very happy 2012!

Good Tidings and Cheer

What a year it has been. From incredibly entertaining road trips to acrobatic-infused walks, this year was certainly something special. I am blessed to have two characters in my life that keep me going.

Maizie and Marleigh have been there through it all - the good, the bad and the hilarious. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have them in my life. I am grateful for everything they do for me, whether they know it or not.

The Adventures of Maizie and Marleigh

Maizie and Marleigh are easily entertained, there is no question about that. Something as simple as a puddle or a leaf can keep them distracted for hours. This can be a problem when you are trying to go for a walk.

It had just finished raining and the wind was still blowing as we set out for our morning stroll Sunday. Maizie in particular is a huge fan of the rain. Something about the puddles she just can’t resist. Marleigh, on the other hand, could care less about puddles - it is the ever evasive leaves that really get her going.

Furr-blown Holiday Shopping

When the holidays come around, I am still stuck in the position of only having a few people to buy for - Mom, Dad, brother and boyfriend. I used to go all out and get close friends gifts, but now that I am living alone and supporting two mouths with eight paws, they are just going to have to understand.
